Voters flock to polling stations to cast their ballots in Quezon City, Philippines. May 12, 2025. Millions of Filipinos voted on Monday in the midterm elections, which have seen controversial candidates vie for national and local posts like former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte, who is running for mayor of Davao City despite his ICC arrest, and church leader Apollo Quiboloy, who is aspiring for a seat in the Senate and currently in custody for sexual abuse and human trafficking in the Philippines and similar charges in the United States. The two are backed by Vice President Sarah Duterte, who is also facing prospects of impeachment in July.

About 68 million Filipinos have registered to elect among over 18,000 officials nationwide aiming for national and local posts including the Senate and all 316 seats in the House of Representatives.
